Today in church, Sara and I were put on the spot to get up in front of the Relief Society and sing a primary song. The lesson we were studying was taken from a talk by Henry B. Eyring titled Our Perfect Example. Well, today, this song and talk hit me particularly strong.
I’m trying to be like Jesus; I’m following in his ways.
I’m trying to love as he did, in all that I do and say.
At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice,
But I try to listen as the still small voice whispers,
“Love one another as Jesus loves you.
Try to show kindness in all that you do.
Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought,
For these are the things Jesus taught.
How simple the words and teachings, but how strong a reminder it was for me. It reminded me of when I played the piano for the primary after highschool. Their cute little voices singing the words and sometimes making up their own, but putting their whole heart and soul into it. How eager they are, to learn and sing and share their testimonies with others. I could tell they really believed everything they were singing, just like President Eyring says in his talk. Sometimes the small and simple teachings are the ones that impress me the most. The Savior's perfect example is what i want to pattern my life after. showing love and kindness to everyone, sharing his message with others, listening to the Holy Ghost when i'm tempted. He closes with this..
"I hope you will go out today looking for opportunities to do as He did and to love as He loves. I can promise you the peace that you felt as a child will come to you often and it will linger with you. The promise is true that He made to His disciples: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.” None of us is perfect yet. But we can have frequent assurance that we are following along the way. He leads us, and He beckons for us to follow Him."
I hope that each and every day i can find ways to love and serve those around me, just like the Savior did when He was on this earth.

Wow. Impressive. I love the simple primary songs they are the easiest to understand, and bring the spirit so fast!
I just wanted to thank you for this post. I taught the combined Young Women lesson on drawing closer to Christ and after reading your blog I decided to add this song as a special musical number. It went really well, Thanks!!
