Life has often been compared to or made a reference to as “glass”. “The glass is half full/empty.”
But why? I don’t see how. Glass is clear. For the most part. But life isn’t clear. Life is clouded. If anything, it’s more like stained glass. Transparent enough so that light can still shine through, but you still can’t see clearly.
I was thinking about it over the past few days; and life can be like glass in a sense that when your entire world shatters and you’re left to clean up the pieces, you don’t exactly know where to start. You feel overwhelmed, maybe even helpless. It all just depends on how we deal as individuals. But once you’re ready and start to pick up those pieces, you still have to be very careful, because even the smallest pieces can cut you and still hurt.
It’s almost impossible to put the pieces of glass back together, returning it to its original form. Something will always be wrong, flawed. The cracks will show, it won’t hold nearly as strong as before.
But glass is recycled. Many of the pieces are broken down even more, melted, and reused to create something new, something different, or something better.
Just like in life, we’re all going to have those moments where we don’t shine as bright as we should, or when we feel like everything we know and feel has been shattered in to a million pieces. But what makes it so remarkable is the hope and possibility of what we can make, what we can do, and what we can become when we recycle and reuse those pieces of our lives.
speaking of broken glass...my friend bryce had this phone for 2 days, and dropped it.....
